Aethir and the Filecoin Foundation seek to tackle these issues to create an ecosystem where users benefit from shared resources.

Aethir has launched support for the Filecoin network, offering advanced GPU leasing capabilities to enhance data processing and storage efficiency.

Leveraging Aethir’s expansive network of over 43,000 top-grade GPUs, including 3,000+ NVIDIA H100s, this initiative provides both the Web2 and the Web3 ecosystem with reliable, scalable, high-performance compute resources.

The two decentralised physical infrastructure networks (DePIN) market leaders will deliver operational efficiency to meet the growing demand for computational resources. Mark Rydon, CSO and Co-founder of Aethir, announced the initiative during his keynote at FIL Singapore, emphasising the impact this initiative will have on the Filecoin ecosystem’s ability to access high-performance GPUs for their growing computational needs.

The increasing demand for decentralized infrastructure, particularly in AI, machine learning, and Web3, has amplified the need for more reliable and scalable compute and storage solutions. Traditionally, users face high barriers to entry due to the need for access to expensive compute hardware.

Aethir’s approach addresses this challenge by offering a two-pronged approach for enterprises and consumers alike: enterprise cloud GPU services and a physical hardware device built for the masses called the Aethir Edge.

The Aethir cloud offering makes top-tier computing power available to almost any business, while the global network of Edge devices makes these benefits accessible to individuals who want to experience next-level gaming, AI inferencing, streaming, DePIN mining, and more, lowering the barrier for new entrants to Filecoin and supporting existing storage providers.

Additionally, Aethir has integrated with Lighthouse, a platform built on Filecoin offering perpetual storage, encryption, custom gateways, and multi-chain smart contracts. Aethir plans to upload AI and node-focused data to the Filecoin network, via Lighthouse.

The project also aims to expand its use of Filecoin storage solutions to archive chain state data, enhance data management capabilities, and drive the vision of a fully decentralised ecosystem with minimized operational costs.

By merging Filecoin’s decentralised storage backbone with Aethir’s distributed GPU cloud infrastructure, both companies seek to resolve pressing challenges such as GPU scarcity and the need for resilient, scalable infrastructure. This work strengthens an AI-driven future by providing essential compute and storage solutions.

“As the demand for decentralized infrastructure grows, Aethir’s collaboration with Filecoin Foundation represents a significant step towards creating a more robust and efficient DePIN ecosystem,” said Mark Rydon, CSO and Co-founder at Aethir. “Our GPU leasing model provides Filecoin storage providers with scalable compute solutions, directly addressing the ongoing GPU scarcity challenges faced by the AI, machine learning, and Web3 sectors.”

“Decentralized infrastructure can help to ensure that the power of AI is in the hands of everyone, not just a few corporations,” said Marta Belcher, President, Filecoin Foundation.
