The collaboration between AIFT and CoEIA will focus on Arabic GenAI’s safety, governance, and applied cybersecurity research.
AIFT announced a strategic collaboration with the Centre of Excellence in Information Assurance (CoEIA) at King Saud University (KSU) to strengthen research and innovation in Generative AI (GenAI) security and governance. The partnership was unveiled on the sidelines of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) 2025 in Riyadh.
Through its GenAI security arm, Vulcan, AIFT delivers market-leading safety and compliance tools tailored for Middle Eastern and Asian languages. Under this new collaboration, AIFT and CoEIA will conduct applied research into cybersecurity, moderation, and safety for Arabic-language GenAI models, addressing both technical and cultural considerations critical to the responsible development of AI in the region.
“The Centre is dedicated to being at the forefront of developments in information security,” said Dr Jalal Almuhtadi, Director of CoEIA at King Saud University. “With their market-leading safety and security tools and focus on the Arabic language, AIFT is the ideal partner to collaborate with us as we research and tackle these risks.”
“We are excited to work with one of Saudi Arabia’s most prestigious universities to supercharge our work in GenAI security, particularly for the Arabic-speaking market,” said Alvin Kwock, Co-founder and CEO of AIFT. “Since appointing Professor Khan to our International Advisory Board, we have benefitted from his deep cybersecurity expertise and knowledge of the Saudi Arabian ecosystem.”
The partnership aligns with Saudi Arabia’s national focus on digital transformation and AI leadership, reinforcing the Kingdom’s commitment to building secure, ethical, and inclusive AI ecosystems.
By leveraging CoEIA’s academic excellence and AIFT’s industry experience, the collaboration aims to develop standards and tools for responsible AI deployment, particularly in Arabic-language models and datasets.
“We are delighted to partner with AIFT on GenAI security, an area that requires urgent research globally and here in Saudi Arabia,” said Professor Muhammad Khurram Khan, Professor of Cybersecurity at CoEIA, King Saud University. “I am extremely impressed with AIFT’s Vulcan security, safety, and compliance tools, especially their focus on non-English languages such as Arabic.”
Together, AIFT and CoEIA are strengthening Saudi Arabia’s role as a regional leader in GenAI research and cybersecurity innovation.
