Cloudflare unveils NET Dollar, a US dollar-backed stablecoin designed to power instant, secure payments for the AI-driven Internet.

Connectivity cloud company Cloudflare announced plans to launch NET Dollar, a US dollar-backed stablecoin aimed at powering instant and secure transactions for the AI-driven Internet.

NET Dollar is positioned as a foundation for a new business model that rewards originality, sustains creativity, and is designed to provide the instant, global, and secure transactions required for AI agents, developers, and creators to operate seamlessly.

“The Internet’s next business model will be powered by pay-per-use, fractional payments, and microtransactions—tools that shift incentives toward original, creative content that actually adds value,” said Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare.

“By using our global network, we are going to help modernise the financial rails needed to move money at the speed of the Internet, helping to create a more open and valuable Internet for everyone.”

NET Dollar will modernise payments for the agentic web in several ways. It will make payments fast and secure, allow AI agents to book services or make purchases programmatically, and introduce new monetisation models for the Internet.

Cloudflare is also contributing to open standards such as the Agent Payments Protocol and x402, which aim to simplify the process of sending and receiving payments online.
