Former TradFi executives from Jump, JP Morgan, Citadel, and Morgan Stanley launches Fogo, the Layer-1 blockchain for fast trading.
Fogo, a high-performance Layer-1 blockchain tailored for traders, has launched its public testnet which is supposedly the fastest blockchain network to date.
Engineered with sub-40ms block times, vertically integrated trading infrastructure, and cutting-edge validator technology, the protocol sets a new benchmark for on-chain execution. Built by veterans from Citadel, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, and Jump, Fogo is the first Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) chain to integrate native multi-local consensus and enshrined decentralised applications (dApps). It also becomes the first chain to implement the Firedancer validator client in its purest form.
“With the launch of this testnet, we’re officially rewriting the standard for what DeFi has to offer,” said Douglas Colkitt, Initial Fogo Contributor and formerly at Citadel. “With vertical integration, real-time latency, and fee-free execution, Fogo gives top traders and builders a new performance frontier that’s fully on-chain and fully prepared to deliver the next generation of performance-first blockchains.”
Fogo introduces a host of unique features designed for institutional-grade speed and fairness, including 40ms block times, native decentralised exchange infrastructure, session-based user authentication, and MEV-resistant architecture.
With co-located node infrastructure and no off-chain dependencies, Fogo delivers near-instant finality, streamlined UX, and reduced latency, optimising for high-frequency on-chain trading.
“Fogo represents a new wave of performance-maximised infrastructure,” said Kain Warwick, founder of Infinex and Fogo partner. “For traders who care about execution, latency, and fairness, this is a major milestone and the evolution that DeFi desperately needs.”
Fogo’s public testnet follows an $8 million community-led funding round via Echo in January 2025. It also builds on previous development milestones, including a private testnet in March and a Devnet rollout in January.
