The partnership with Red Hat simplifies VM migration, reduces vendor lock-in, and enhances enterprise resilience.
Data storage infrastructure Hitachi Vantara announced a new collaboration with Red Hat to deliver an integrated solution combining Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization with Hitachi Vantara Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One).
The joint offering enables enterprises to modernise legacy virtualisation environments, reduce reliance on proprietary hypervisors, and accelerate hybrid cloud transformation with enhanced flexibility and resilience.
According to recent research, nearly three-quarters (73%) of enterprises have faced licensing audits, with many citing cost management and compliance as major operational challenges. To address these issues, the integrated Hitachi–Red Hat solution provides a pre-validated reference architecture, advanced VM migration tools, and unified storage management across block, file, and object workloads.
“Organisations across industries are looking to modernise IT infrastructure while avoiding vendor lock-in and controlling costs,” said Dan McConnell, Senior Vice President of Product Management and Enterprise Infrastructure at Hitachi Vantara.
“By combining Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization with our high-performance VSP One infrastructure, we’re enabling customers to simplify migration, reduce complexity, and accelerate application delivery on a modern hybrid cloud foundation.”
The collaboration offers enterprises a path to modernisation through key advantages, including reduced operational costs, faster migration and deployment, and improved visibility and automation.
“As IT leaders reevaluate traditional virtualisation platforms, the ability to migrate and modernise without disruption is critical,” said Stefanie Chiras, Ph.D., Senior Vice President, Partner Ecosystem Success at Red Hat.
“Together with Hitachi Vantara, we’re enabling customers to reduce costs, consolidate operations, and build more resilient, cloud-native infrastructure that is ready for what’s next.”
The announcement builds on the ongoing collaboration between Hitachi Vantara and Red Hat, including enhancements to the Red Hat OpenShift migration toolkit for virtualisation, which now supports storage offloading during cold migrations powered by VSP One.
