Self now supports Aadhaar, enabling privacy-preserving verification for 99% of India’s adults and expanding access to Web3 opportunities.

Self, the zk-powered proof-of-humanity and identity verification platform, has announced support for India’s Aadhaar system. Unveiled at EthGlobal Pragma New Delhi, the initiative will allow users to verify their humanity and attributes without disclosing personal data to third parties.

With over 1.4 billion Aadhaar IDs issued and 2.21 billion authentication transactions recorded in August 2025 alone, Aadhaar covers nearly the entire adult population of India.

By verifying through Self, users in India can access enhanced benefits across decentralised and Web3 services. These include increased yield opportunities on Aave, boosted voter rewards with Velodrome, and event access through Lemonade.

Verified users will also be able to leverage Google Cloud’s Web3 suite, including the AI search platform, testnet faucet, and the industry’s first mainnet faucet, following the partnership announced earlier this year.

“Bringing secure, user-friendly proof-of-humanity and identity verification to the majority of India’s population is a major milestone,” said Eric Nakagawa, CEO and Co-Founder of Self.

“We are proud to broaden Self’s support in our mission of onboarding a billion new users in India, while protecting individuals’ private information and offering solutions to combat bots, sybil attacks, identity theft, and underage access to harmful content.”

By anchoring Aadhaar within its zk-powered framework, Self strengthens its role in advancing privacy-first digital identity.
