Shardeum’s Proof of Community aims to spread blockchain literacy and bring 10,000 people on-chain through global meetups.

Layer-1 blockchain Shardeum announced its aim to spread blockchain literacy and bring 10,000 people on chain through 200+ local meetups worldwide in a Proof of Community campaign.

Building on this foundation, the new #MyFirstSHM campaign introduces users to the real-world utility of SHM through low-cost, instant global payments in the Payment Finance (PayFi) space. Participants will receive an SHM allocation plus a bonus for completing a follow-up transaction within 30 days deepening engagement and preparing them to lead future Proof of Community events in their communities.

Each meetup is designed as a tangible introduction to Web3, where participants are taught on setting up their MetaMask wallets with Shardeum RPC, receive and transfer testnet SHM tokens, and engage in real-world use cases like tipping, voting, and micro-payments.

Shahzad Nathani, Head of Operations and Partnerships at Shardeum, said: “Education is the foundation of meaningful adoption. This initiative brings blockchain directly to users giving them the tools, the knowledge, and the firsthand experience to understand and engage with Web3. But more than that, it’s about enabling communities to build with confidence. By focusing on in-person engagement and real-world use cases, we’re creating a model for decentralized adoption that is scalable, inclusive, and sustainable. We believe this is essential to ensure Web3 doesn’t remain a niche but becomes truly global and accessible.”

Shardeum plans to host 10 to 15 meetups per month, driving consistent, high-frequency community engagement. Events will take place across India, Nigeria, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Kenya, Ghana, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, the UK, and the US.
