Google Cloud joins Somnia’s validator set and partner roster, offering AI tooling and enhanced threat detection for on-chain games.

Layer-1 blockchain Somnia has announced a new collaboration with Google Cloud aimed at enhancing security infrastructure, enabling AI-powered agents, and improving developer access to integrated cloud tools for blockchain-based gaming.

The partnership brings together Google Cloud’s infrastructure and security expertise with Somnia’s high-performance network, which recently surpassed one billion transactions on its testnet. The network is supported by validators including BCW Group, Luganodes, B-Harvest, and Kiln.

Under the collaboration, Google Cloud will operate as a validator on the Somnia network. Somnia developers will also gain access to tools such as real-time blockchain data via Pub/Sub and indexed datasets through BigQuery, streamlining data analysis and on-chain monitoring.

The integration also enables developers to access Google’s AI agent stack, including ADK, A2A, and MCP, to build intelligent NPCs and reactive game environments.

Security is another focus of the partnership. Mandiant, Google Cloud’s cybersecurity arm, will support threat intelligence and infrastructure protection for the Somnia network. This includes securing private key management systems, hardening signing processes, and providing proactive incident response measures for key events like smart contract deployments and token launches.

Somnia’s network is engineered for real-time blockchain applications, offering transaction speeds exceeding one million per second, sub-second finality, and low-cost execution. Over 60 projects are currently active on its testnet, including titles such as Sparkball, Variance, Masks of the Void, and Maelstrom.

Paul Thomas, Founder of Somnia, said the partnership sets the groundwork for more intelligent and interoperable on-chain environments. “Working with Google Cloud marks a huge step forward in setting the foundations for a truly agentic, on-chain internet,” he said. “With their support across validator operations, BigQuery datasets, and AI agent tooling, we’re redefining how games are built and giving developers an accessible platform to build immersive, intelligent projects that can flourish.”

The integration is set to go live this summer, with developers invited to build on Somnia’s testnet using the new capabilities. The move is positioned as a step forward in bridging decentralised systems with emerging AI technologies to support the next generation of gaming infrastructure.
