Verification platform Sumsub has announced a new integration with Linea, the Ethereum Layer-2 (L2) network developed by Consensys, to deliver gas-free, on-chain identity attestations through Verax.
Launched during EthCC in Cannes, the initiative provides a privacy-preserving, reusable method for Web3 users to verify their identity and interact with decentralised applications (dApps) across the Linea ecosystem.
This marks the second public rollout of Sumsub’s on-chain attestation capabilities, following its integration with Solana’s Attestation Service earlier this year. The integration is built on Sumsub ID, a reusable digital identity product that allows users to undergo a one-time verification process and reuse their credentials across platforms.
To initiate the process, users begin at Linea Hub and are redirected to Sumsub for verification. The system includes a liveness check to confirm the user is human, along with an anti-money laundering (AML) screening of the connected MetaMask wallet.
Upon successful verification, an on-chain credential is issued to the user’s wallet using the Verax Attestation Service. The credential is publicly recorded on Linea’s blockchain and can be used to access rewards and services across the ecosystem.
Verified users are eligible to receive 20 free transactions on Linea, supporting the platform’s vision for frictionless onboarding and trust-driven engagement. These credentials can also be reused by any dApp within the Linea network, enabling a more seamless and interoperable user journey.
“Our integration with Linea marks a powerful next step in our mission to bring reusable, privacy-first identity to every corner of Web3,” said Ilya Brovin, Chief Growth Officer at Sumsub. “By combining gasless attestations with Layer 2 scalability, this rollout integration helps to ensure a more user-centric, secure, and interconnected Web3.”
The integration reinforces the growing adoption of reusable digital identity frameworks in Web3, as platforms look to streamline user verification while maintaining compliance and data privacy.
