The QVAC Genesis I is supposedly the largest synthetic dataset for STEM AI training, along with the accompanying new on-device AI app
Tether Data’s AI research division, QVAC, has launched QVAC Genesis I, the world’s largest synthetic dataset for artificial intelligence training, alongside QVAC Workbench, a local on-device AI application designed to advance open and decentralised intelligence.
With 41 billion text tokens, each token of QVAC Genesis I serves as a building block for language understanding, allowing AI systems to develop stronger reasoning, problem-solving, and contextual comprehension across scientific disciplines, including mathematics, physics, biology, and medicine.
Unlike existing proprietary datasets, QVAC Genesis I is publicly available and rigorously validated, enabling researchers and educators to train advanced models without dependence on centralised corporate infrastructure.
“Intelligence shouldn’t be centralised,” said Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether. “With QVAC Workbench and Genesis I, we’re opening the door to infinite intelligence — AI that lives, learns, and evolves locally on your own device. Intelligence, like information, should be free, accessible, and owned by everyone, not locked behind corporate firewalls or sold as a service.”
QVAC Workbench, released alongside the dataset, is a comprehensive local AI platform supporting models such as Llama, MedGemma, Qwen, SmolVLM, and Whisper. It enables users to run AI models directly on their devices while maintaining full data privacy.
The app introduces a unique feature called Delegated Inference, allowing peer-to-peer connections between mobile and desktop versions of Workbench to utilise home or office computing resources securely. All chats and computations remain on-device, ensuring user data remains private and fully owned.
“Most AI today sounds smart, but doesn’t truly think,” added Ardoino. “We designed this dataset to help models understand cause and effect, make connections, and reason through complexity — and we’re making it open to everyone.”
By releasing both QVAC Genesis I and QVAC Workbench, Tether aims to create a new paradigm of “local intelligence” — where AI evolves directly on user devices rather than being centralised in data centres. This initiative underscores Tether’s vision of returning ownership of intelligence to individuals, empowering researchers, educators, and developers to build, learn, and innovate freely.
