As part of the expansion to Solana via Wormhole, the WalletConnect Foundation is airdropping five million WCT tokens to active users.
The WalletConnect Foundation announced that the WalletConnect Token (WCT) is launching on Solana via Wormhole’s Native Token Transfers (NTT).
Five million WCT will be airdropped to active Solana users as part of the milestone, and the Foundation will partner with Solana-based platforms including Phantom, Jupiter, and Backpack to ensure tokens reach engaged users.
Pedro Gomes, Founder and Director of the WalletConnect Foundation, said: “WalletConnect has been working closely with Solana teams over the past couple of months and I have been continuously impressed by the builders, the community and the energy of the Solana ecosystem. I am thrilled that WCT is now available on Solana and we can further strengthen our relationship with the Solana community.”
Solana apps like Save, Drift, Helius, and Meteora already use WalletConnect’s infrastructure via Reown’s AppKit, and the number of token holders are expected to grow rapidly as WCT expands to Solana’s 100+ million monthly active wallets.
Robinson Burkey, CCO and co-founder of Wormhole Foundation, said, “WCT’s expansion to Solana using NTT is a clear signal, builders and users want fluid, secure movement of value across ecosystems. Wormhole is proud to support WalletConnect in creating a more open and composable onchain internet.”
As WCT becomes available on more chains, the WalletConnect Foundation plans to activate new governance features and expand community participation. More chain integrations and token-based incentives are already in development.
Additional details, including further details on claiming and eligibility for the Solana airdrop, will be shared on WalletConnect’s official channels.
