AMINA has secured an SFC Type 1 licence uplift, enabling professional investors to access institutional-grade crypto services 24/7.

AMINA (Hong Kong) Limited has become the first international banking group to offer comprehensive crypto spot trading and custody access in Hong Kong following its Securities and Futures Commission Type 1 licence uplift. The regulatory approval enables AMINA to provide professional investors with institutional-grade crypto services under Hong Kong’s stringent, globally recognised digital asset framework.

Despite Hong Kong’s advanced regulatory regime for digital assets, professional investors, institutions, and family offices have had limited access to internationally regulated crypto infrastructure with local client onboarding. AMINA HK’s expanded permissions now bridge this gap, combining Swiss banking discipline with Hong Kong’s digital-asset expertise to deliver regulated, secure, and scalable crypto access tailored for sophisticated investors.

Michael Benz, Head of AMINA Hong Kong and APAC, said: “What distinguishes AMINA is our ability to combine Swiss banking rigor with Hong Kong digital asset expertise to deliver crypto solutions through a framework that institutional clients can trust.”

With the uplifted licence, AMINA HK now provides 24/7 crypto spot trading, secure asset safeguarding, and crypto deposits and withdrawals via whitelisted addresses, ensuring compliance with SFC requirements while supporting flexible client operations across time zones.

Its trading capabilities include continuous professional trading across major digital asset pairs using institutional-grade execution infrastructure. The initial product shelf features 13 vetted cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and a selection of prominent DeFi tokens. Clients can access deep liquidity pools through SFC-licensed infrastructure and engage via mobile apps, web portals, or dedicated relationship managers.

AMINA HK’s security is reinforced by multi-layered protections, including SOC 1 Type 2 and SOC 2 Type 2 certified infrastructure, with 24/7 operational support for managing global crypto positions. The launch marks a significant step forward for Hong Kong’s institutional digital-asset landscape.
