
Alipay+ GlassPay introduces iris authentication to enhance security, user experience, and merchant engagement in AR payments.
Ant International launched the world’s first iris authentication feature for smart glasses payments, enhancing the security and convenience of its Alipay+ GlassPay solution. The new capability complements existing voiceprint authentication and AI-powered intent recognition, representing a secure, immersive commerce experience.
Developed in partnership with smart glasses manufacturers Xiaomi and Meizu, Alipay+ GlassPay leverages the latest AI and augmented reality (AR) technologies to enable seamless transactions through multi-modal biometric verification. The solution has been successfully tested on AlipayHK, and will be rolled out to merchants and service providers across the Asia Pacific.
Iris authentication employs AI-driven liveness detection to counter fraud attempts and ensure accurate identification in varying lighting conditions. By combining this with Ant’s gPass framework, Alipay+ GlassPay ensures complete end-to-end encryption and compliance with regional data protection standards.
The integration of iris verification not only enhances user safety but also strengthens merchant performance by improving payment success rates and opening new channels for personalised, real-time engagement. From try-on purchases to instant ride-hailing, the solution allows consumers to transact effortlessly while helping merchants optimise logistics and omni-channel operations.
