Coinbase has opened a new office in Singapore, marking a deeper commitment to the region as a hub for engagement with regulators.

Coinbase has opened its new Singapore office, positioning the city as an integral part of the exchange’s global strategy. Designed as a collaborative hub, the office is intended to deepen Coinbase’s engagement with regulators as digital assets become a larger part of Singapore’s financial system.

The opening brought together senior figures from Coinbase, regulators, and industry partners. John O’Loghlen, Managing Director of Coinbase APAC, delivered the opening keynote, followed by a guest-of-honour address from Kenneth Gay, Chief FinTech Officer at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

Hassan Ahmed, Coinbase’s Country Director for Singapore, then hosted a panel on the intersection of fintech and digital assets alongside Abhinav Tiwari, Head of Global Product at Stripe, Angela Ang, Managing Director APAC at BitGo, and Oliver Jay, Managing Director International at OpenAI.

In his address, Gay pointed to MAS’s BLOOM initiative as a framework for developing interoperable settlement capabilities across digital money, tokenised deposits, and CBDCs, and credited Coinbase’s active participation in helping to build that ecosystem in Singapore.

Hassan Ahmed, Country Director, Singapore, at Coinbase, said: “Singapore is one of the world’s most trusted financial hubs and one of Coinbase’s fastest-growing international markets. This new office reflects our long-term confidence in Singapore as a strategic hub for innovation, talent, and responsible growth across APAC, giving us the resources to work more closely with local authorities, invest in talent, and scale partnerships.”

Kenneth Gay, Chief FinTech Officer at MAS, said: “MAS has established BLOOM — Borderless, Liquid, Open, Online, Multi-currency — to support the development of next-generation settlement capabilities. On that note, I would like to express our gratitude for Coinbase’s active participation in BLOOM, working together to foster the ecosystem for digital money settlement.”
