MDI Ventures will prioritise areas such as enterprise AI, AI infrastructure, and tokenisation, starting with Singapore.

MDI Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Telkom Indonesia, has updated its Southeast Asia investment strategy to focus on areas such as enterprise AI, AI infrastructure, and real-world asset tokenisation.

The firm aims to begin its regional sourcing strategy in Singapore and help selected companies expand into Indonesia through TelkomGroup’s enterprise relationships, infrastructure, and market channels. The updated strategy reflects a shift towards infrastructure and enterprise technology supporting the region’s AI and digital asset economies, rather than consumer digitalisation alone.

MDI Ventures also identified opportunities in Indonesia where around 2,400 AI and deep-tech startups operate. It highlighted areas including Bahasa-first AI applications, workflow automation, and sector-specific AI deployments.

Digital assets form the second pillar of the investment strategy, with MDI Ventures focusing on areas including custody, tokenisation, and regulated digital asset services.

Shannon Lee Chaluangco, Investment Director at MDI Ventures Singapore, said: “Our role is to provide the strongest regional founders with Indonesia’s market scale, Telkom Group’s network, and the strategic resources needed to build durable companies across AI, blockchain, and digital assets.”

Alvin Evander, VP of Strategy at MDI Ventures, added: “As tokenisation, institutional custody and regulated digital asset rails move from pilots into real-world use, the winners will be founders who build for trust and compliance from day one. We want to partner with those builders and help them connect regional ambition with Indonesia’s market scale through TelkomGroup’s ecosystem.”
