Morph launches Morph Tachyon, a high-speed Layer-1 that targets faster execution, instant finality, and an improved market infrastructure.

Payments-focused network Morph has launched a new Layer-1 blockchain, Morph Tachyon, aimed at addressing the growing infrastructure demands of onchain trading.

The new chain will supposedly expand its ecosystem beyond its existing Layer-2 solution, which will continue to support payments, stablecoins, and open finance. On the other hand, Morph Tachyon is built for high-performance trading and on-chain markets.

The move reflects a broader shift in blockchain design, where different financial use cases increasingly require specialised infrastructure. Morph Tachyon targets block times of 200 milliseconds and throughput of up to 200,000 transactions per second.

It also offers instant finality, eliminating the need for multiple confirmations, and introduces a gas-free trading experience, removing the requirement for users to manage native tokens for transactions. The chain is also EVM-compatible.

One of the first platforms to adopt the new infrastructure is PopDEX, a decentralised perpetual exchange. Morph and PopDEX plan to collaborate on improving execution quality, liquidity, and capital efficiency within on-chain derivatives markets.

Renna Ba, Head of Ecosystem at Morph, said: “Morph Tachyon is an important step forward for the Morph ecosystem. Payments and trading are both core parts of on-chain finance, but they need different infrastructure. Rather than asking every app to use the same setup, we are building dedicated systems that fit how these markets work.”
