Optimism launches Privacy Boost, a high-performance, regulatory-ready, and self-custodial on-chain privacy API/SDK.
Layer-2 (L2) scaling solution Optimism has launched Privacy Boost, a self-custodial, on-chain privacy API/SDK for financial apps.
The regulatory-ready API will enable applications to integrate private transfers and DeFi workflows into public blockchains while maintaining self-custody.
Privacy Boost aims to address the issue of practical privacy, combining Zero-Knowledge (ZK) Proofs and Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) to deliver on the three key pillars of high performance, asset self-custody, and regulatory readiness.
Privacy Boost was created as a collaborative effort between OP Mainnet and OP Enterprise. For the former, the API will allow any application building on OP Mainnet to integrate private transfers and privacy-preserving workflows. For the latter, Privacy Boost can be deployed directly onto the infrastructure of enterprise customers.
Jing Wang, CEO and Co-Founder of OP Labs, said: “As we work with banks, fintechs, and institutional partners looking to move on-chain, privacy consistently comes up as a non-negotiable requirement. Privacy Boost checked every box — performance, regulatory readiness, seamless integration, and self-custody. That’s why we chose them as a certified privacy offering.”
