The new pudgy penguins comic book trilogy will debut at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 to establish an official franchise canon.
Global character brand Pudgy Penguins has launched its first manga-inspired comic book trilogy, Adventures of Pax Pengu & Polly, at San Diego Comic-Con 2026.
The comic was developed under the creative direction of Peter Lobanov, and it was written and illustrated by Vivian Lin and Afiq Salam, respectively. The three-part series introduces the highly anticipated official origin story of three main characters: Pax, Pengu, and Polly.
The physical collection features three full-colour, 32-page individual volumes printed in standard American format, accompanied by a premium hardcover omnibus collector’s edition that compiles the entire trilogy and is strictly limited to 100 copies worldwide.
This release represents the first time the organisation produced a long-form narrative, successfully establishing an official shared canonical universe for the brand. The publication directly addresses this narrative gap, significantly enhancing long-term consumer loyalty by transitioning the digital intellectual property into a fully integrated, story-led global entertainment franchise.
Debuting exclusively at the convention, the launch event provides attendees with dedicated book signings alongside an early opportunity to purchase exclusive matching eight-inch plush companions ahead of their wider retail distribution.
Peter Lobanov, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer at Pudgy Penguins, said: “Every great entertainment franchise begins with characters and stories people connect with and love. Pax Pengu and Polly have become beloved characters across our community.”
