Pudgy Penguins debuts its first comic book trilogy at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, revealing the origin story of its characters.
Pudgy Penguins has detailed the year-long creative process behind “Adventures of Pax Pengu & Polly,” its first-ever comic book trilogy, set to debut at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. The series tells the official origin story of Pax Pengu, Polly, and The Berg, establishing a foundational mythology intended to shape the future of the Pudgy Penguins entertainment universe.
For five years, Pax Pengu and Polly have appeared across Pudgy Penguins’ social channels, the Pudgy World online game, and its plush product line, but the characters’ origin and how they first met had never been told. The trilogy addresses that gap while functioning as a broader test of how an NFT-rooted brand can extend into long-form entertainment IP, following Pax’s search for his missing family through a mysterious letter, his meeting with Polly, and a growing conflict between penguins and bears that threatens The Berg.
Before any illustration began, writer Vivian Lin and illustrator Afiq Salam spent close to a year building the story, weaving years of established characters, locations, and community lore into an official canon while introducing new plotlines and world-building elements. Every page is hand-illustrated with no AI-generated artwork, using Salam’s self-taught, manga-inspired style.
Peter Lobanov, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Pudgy Penguins, said: “Every great entertainment franchise begins with characters people genuinely care about. This story finally gives fans the chance to discover who Paxton Pengu and Polly really are, how they found each other, and the world that shaped them.”
Vivian Lin, writer of Adventures of Pax Pengu & Polly, said: “We weren’t writing a comic for one moment. We were creating the history that every future story could build from.”
