Institutions will be able to price against a shared market reference without exposing their positions or settlement values.

Oracle network RedStone has gained approval to build the Canton Access and Privacy Standard (CAPS) on the Canton network.

The feature is an open-source framework for institutional market-data infrastructure on Canton, letting institutions price transactions on Canton without revealing their underlying positions or agreed settlement values to data providers.

The proposal by Redstone to build CAPS addresses the issue of market data providers bringing their data to public blockchains, while giving financial institutions access to market prices without exposing sensitive information.

To do that, RedStone publishes a shared, timestamped reference price, while each participant calculates its own transaction value using that same reference. This lets counterparties work with a consistent market price without revealing their agreed settlement values.

RedStone will release the CAPS framework under the Apache 2.0 open-source license, and other data providers will be able to adapt the infrastructure for their own services.

Marcin Kaźmierczak, Co-founder and COO of RedStone, said: “We’re releasing CAPS as open source so the standard grows with the network and ensures widest adoption.”

Viv Diwakar, Head of the Canton Foundation, added: “Canton’s growth depends on connecting more assets, liquidity and institutions through common standards that protect sensitive data and enable interoperability.”
