The Sandbox Lion City metaverse aims to foster collaboration and innovation under the theme ‘Scaling Innovation‘.

The Sandbox, a popular decentralized virtual gaming world owned by Animoca Brands, has announced the introduction of Lion City, a new neighborhood in the game based on Singapore. This announcement was made during the first-ever Singapore Partner Day event.

Over a period of nine months, the local Sandbox team in Singapore has been working on planning and constructing a virtual neighborhood called Lion City within metaverse. Lion City will feature more than 30 global and regional brands that represent Singapore’s culture in areas like sports, fashion, entertainment, and technology. These brands will join the existing Web3 natives in the metaverse of The Sandbox.

Singapore, also known as the “Lion City,” was chosen as a strategic location for The Sandbox in Southeast Asia due to its reputation as a culturally vibrant and diverse business hub. The country has consistently positioned itself as a center for innovation and Web3 advancements, thanks to its supportive regulatory environment for emerging technologies. Singapore’s collaborative ecosystem enables companies to explore new digital frontiers and test decentralized technologies.

The Sandbox aims to foster collaboration and innovation by bringing together all of its Singapore ecosystem partners for the first time under one roof. The Lion City Partner Day serves as a dynamic platform for diverse industry partners to connect with the Web3 ecosystem, exchange ideas with innovators, and gain strategic insights into the metaverse. The event included keynote presentations, engaging panel discussions with key partners, a product showcase, and a networking session.

During the Lion City Partner Day, participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in The Sandbox metaverse and explore previously featured virtual builds from past Alpha seasons. Attendees also had the chance to meet and interact with the talented creators behind these builds and engage with representatives from Web2 brands interested in establishing their presence in the metaverse.

Sebastien Borget, Co-Founder & COO of The Sandbox, highlighted the foundation laid by The Sandbox team to expand metaverse opportunities in Singapore. They have partnered with over 40 brands and intellectual properties and certified eight local agencies, positioning Singapore as a global hub for Web3 and the metaverse. Through the use of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), The Sandbox aims to empower talented individuals and create new job opportunities. The Singapore Partner Day event was an opportunity to introduce these partners, share the long-term vision, and showcase Lion City as a cultural hub.

With more than 400 global brands already onboarded, including Singapore’s DBS Bank, Lion City in The Sandbox will act as a gateway and launchpad for Web3 possibilities in Southeast Asia. As part of the event, The Sandbox welcomed 42 new partners into its growing Singapore ecosystem. Local partners include MM2 Asia, ONE Championship, Mighty Jaxx Group, and others. Studio partners serving the Singapore market include Smobler Studios, CGame Studio, and several others. The metaverse is being built collaboratively by various ecosystem partners, including OKContract, Golden Equator Group, DIFY, and Peatix.
