The new engineering hub will empower engineers in Singapore with resources and training to foster innovation and drive the advancement of the local blockchain ecosystem
Coinbase will be launching a new Engineering Hub in Singapore, with the aim of fostering the local developer ecosystem. Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), this move cements Singapore as a key hub for blockchain innovation in the APAC region.
The new Engineering Hub will provide engineers in Singapore with resources, while also nurturing local talent, encouraging innovation, and advancing the capabilities of Singapore’s blockchain ecosystem. Coinbase currently employs over 600 people in the APAC region, including 70 employees in Singapore, which is intended to expand with the launch of this Hub.

The move will upskill engineering talent to meet the needs of emerging technology use cases, making the island a competitive centre for financial services and technology.
Coinbase obtained its Major Payment Institution (MPI) licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in October 2023. allowing the crypto exchange to offer a broad range of secure cryptocurrency trading and custodial services to retail, accredited investor and institutional clients in Singapore.
