The partnership between Open Campus and Madhya Pradesh will digitise academic records for the next 18 months.
Open Campus has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of Madhya Pradesh and Geeks of Gurukul to digitise academic records for up to 50 million students and graduates in the Indian state.
The initiative will use Open Campus’s EDU Chain infrastructure to support secure credential verification, with the project framed as a step towards strengthening trust in qualifications and improving graduate employability.
The digitisation programme is expected to run over the next 18 months and will be overseen by a joint steering committee representing Open Campus, the government of Madhya Pradesh, and Geeks of Gurukul.
Open Campus said it will provide the underlying infrastructure to create verifiable digital credentials for students and graduates across universities in Madhya Pradesh, supporting credential issuance and verification at scale.
The partnership will also leverage Open Campus’s ecosystem to issue verifiable credentials, digital IDs, wallets, and smart cards. Open Campus said this will streamline academic record retrieval and enhance identity verification, while enabling employers to access blockchain-based records that can be verified quickly.
The Honourable Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Mangubhai C. Patel, said: “The scale of this digitisation effort will transform how qualifications are verified, fostering a trusted job market and unlocking opportunities for millions of young professionals.”
Mohamed Ezeldin, president of Open Campus, said: “By combining Open Campus’s blockchain credentialing with EDU Chain’s financing solutions, we’re breaking down barriers to education and employment. This project sets a precedent for digital public infrastructure, offering a model for other states across India and nations across the globe.”
