Republic Polytechnic launched an AI transformation strategy to embed applied AI across diplomas, upskill staff, and deepen industry ties.

Republic Polytechnic (RP) has unveiled a comprehensive AI transformation strategy aimed at strengthening its teaching and learning ecosystem, deepening staff capabilities, and expanding industry partnerships to meet demand for AI-skilled talent.

The initiative is positioned to support practical and responsible applications of AI for learners, staff, and industry partners, as RP advances its role in developing future AI-ready talent in Singapore.
The launch took place on the first day of RP’s Open House 2026, with Mr David Neo, Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, and Senior Minister of State for Education, attending as Guest-of-Honour.

RP said it is reshaping its teaching and learning ecosystem through curriculum redesign, staff upskilling, and applied learning technologies. By 2027, at least half of the discipline-specific modules within each diploma will incorporate applied AI skills, with the aim of giving learners hands-on experience with AI tools, applications, and practices used in future workplaces.

The polytechnic will also extend to its Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes, where AI competencies will be infused into specialist and part-time diplomas so adult learners can keep pace with emerging workplace technologies and use industry-specific AI tools for productivity, analysis, and decision-making, with selected programmes offering opportunities to develop or deploy AI applications relevant to their sectors.

“By bringing the use of AI into the classroom, strengthening our workforce capabilities, and working closely with industry partners, we equip our learners with the confidence, judgement, and skills to use and navigate new technologies. Our purpose is ultimately about giving our learners the opportunity to adapt, grow, and excel in a fast-changing world,” said Ms Jeanne Liew, Principal and CEO of Republic Polytechnic.

RP added that academic staff have been integrating AI into curriculum design, development, and delivery, while working with industry partners to identify relevant AI tools and practices to keep learning outcomes aligned with workplace needs. AI-enabled tools are also being used to support the creation of lesson plans and assessments, with RP describing these tools as streamlining routine tasks.

Assessment practices have also been redesigned, with learners evaluated on AI tools and the ability to work effectively alongside them, supported by RP’s problem-based learning approach that positions AI as a collaborator while strengthening critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and creativity.

Beyond teaching, RP said it is also preparing its workforce to harness AI to boost productivity and enhance service delivery. All 1,200 staff will undergo AI capability development, ranging from role-relevant applications to advanced certifications by the end of 2026.
