Spacecoin has announced agreements in Africa and Asia to pilot satellite internet demonstrations.
Spacecoin said it has secured strategic agreements with government authorities, telecommunications providers, and IoT innovators across Africa and Asia to advance permissionless satellite communications.
he agreements span across countries such as Kenya, Nigeria, Indonesia, and Cambodia, reflecting growing government and telco appetite for decentralised satellite connectivity in regions that face economic and logistical constraints.
In Kenya, Spacecoin has a transmission licence with the Communications Authority of Kenya to deliver satellite IoT monitoring solutions and expand connectivity in underconnected regions. It is also building on an existing licence from the Nigerian Communications Commission as part of its initiative to bring high-speed, low-cost connectivity to rural communities.
In Indonesia, Spacecoin is collaborating with local partners and government agencies to deliver internet access across the country’s more than 17,000 islands, addressing a fragmented connectivity landscape.
In Cambodia, it has formed a strategic partnership with MekongNet, one of the nation’s largest ISPs, to extend market reach by providing satellite-powered internet to rural and underserved populations.
Tae Oh, Founder of Spacecoin, said: “These agreements confirm that Spacecoin has moved beyond being just an idea, but a real movement with momentum that will unlock permissionless connectivity through open-sourced satellite technology, powered by people and built for people.”
