APF Canada’s CIAC 2026 convened over 700 leaders in Singapore to advance Canada–Asia collaboration on food security, energy security, and infrastructure.

The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada) concluded the Canada-in-Asia Conference 2026 (CIAC 2026) in Singapore, bringing together more than 700 senior policymakers, business leaders, investors, and experts from Canada and across the Asia Pacific.

CIAC 2026 focused on three pillars — food security, energy security, and infrastructure — against a backdrop of geopolitical uncertainty and economic transition. The conference included senior government representatives such as Maninder Sidhu, Canada’s Minister of International Trade, and Gan Siow Huang, Singapore’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade & Industry.

In the opening remarks, APF Canada President and CEO Jeff Nankivell said the event aimed to support practical collaboration and long-term, trust-based partnerships.

Sessions covered topics including geopolitics and economic fragmentation, investment and infrastructure financing, energy security and the energy transition, and food systems and supply-chain resilience.

Vina Nadjibulla, Vice-President Research & Strategy at APF Canada, said: “What we heard at CIAC2026 was a clear interest in building partnerships that combine investment, technology transfer, skills development, and mutual security, areas that will be critical to delivering long-term value for both economies.”

In the closing remarks, APF Canada Asia Regional Director Barrett Bingley said CIAC is part of a longer-term effort to connect stakeholders shaping Canada–Asia relations.

Barrett Bingley, APF Canada’s Asia Regional Director, said: “It is part of a longer-term effort to connect governments, businesses, and institutions that are shaping the future of Canada-Asia relations. The relationships and ideas advanced here in Singapore will continue through follow-up engagements and concrete partnerships across the region.”

APF Canada also pointed to outcomes tied to the conference, including an exclusive North American distribution agreement between TradeWorks Environmental and Singapore-based GoCircular, and a US$30 million loan signed by FinDev Canada to PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance (IIF), described as FinDev Canada’s first investment in Indonesia.
